Vinicius Jr<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. has said fans found guilty of racist abuse should be banned for life from attending games.<\/p>\n The Brazil international was a victim of abuse in September when Atletico Madrid fans were filmed directing racist chants at him outside their Wanda Metropolitano Stadium ahead of the Madrid derby.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you hurt other people, you must pay,\u201d Vinicius told Brazilian TV Globo on Sunday.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s hard to say that [racism in soccer] will end with so many people still doing it. But I like to believe that there are more good people than bad.<\/p>\n \u201cAll the racist people must pay in some way. If they like to watch soccer, those Atletico Madrid fans should never be allowed to step foot in a stadium again.<\/p>\n \u201cThat will make them suffer the consequences and reflect about their actions.\u201d<\/p>\n Atletico and LaLiga condemned the abuse directed at Vinicius in the build-up to Madrid\u2019s 2-1 derby victory.<\/p>\n Atletico said they are collaborating with authorities to identify the abusers who would be banned by the club.<\/p>\n The Prosecutor\u2019s Office of Madrid is also investigating the case.<\/p>\n Pele, Neymar and other leading Brazilian figures defended Vinicius that same week after a pundit on a Spanish football show said the Brazilian was not respecting his opponents with his celebrations, comparing his behaviour to a monkey.<\/p>\n Vinicius published an emotional two-minute video statement in response to what he called a \u201cxenophobic and racist\u201d insult, saying he \u201cwon\u2019t stop dancing\u201d and that \u201cthe happiness of a black Brazilian being successful in Europe bothers many people.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Vinicius Jr \u00a0 Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. has said fans found guilty of racist abuse should be banned for life from attending games.
