President\u00a0<\/span>Nana Addo\u00a0<\/span>Dankwa Akufo-Addo has\u00a0<\/span>assured the people that\u00a0<\/span>the country will soon\u00a0<\/span>emerge from the current\u00a0<\/span>crisis.\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

He said the New Patriotic Party\u00a0<\/span>(NPP) had the track record of always\u00a0<\/span>taking the country out of its economic\u00a0<\/span>difficulties and that this time would not\u00a0<\/span>be any different.<\/span><\/p>\n

The president said this when he\u00a0<\/span>addressed members of the party at the\u00a0<\/span>launch of a new NPP Identification Card\u00a0<\/span>for the party in Kumasi last Tuesday as\u00a0<\/span>part of activities marking his four-day\u00a0<\/span>tour to the Ashanti Region.<\/span><\/p>\n

Track record<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to him when the\u00a0<\/span>country\u2019s economy was in bad shape in\u00a0<\/span>the year 2000, forcing President John\u00a0<\/span>Agyekum Kufuor to opt for the Heavily\u00a0<\/span>Indebted Poor Country Initiative\u00a0<\/span>(HIPIC), \u201cit was the same NPP\u00a0<\/span>government that got the country out of\u00a0<\/span>HIPC.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He said when the NPP again took\u00a0<\/span>over the management of the country in\u00a0<\/span>2017, it got the country out of\u00a0<\/span>International Monetary Fund\u00a0<\/span>conditionalities.<\/span><\/p>\n

He thus called on the party faithful\u00a0<\/span>to trust the government to again get the\u00a0<\/span>country out of the current situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Consequently, he called party\u00a0<\/span>supporters to register for the new card to enable the party to have a database of its members and also continue to support the party.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new card<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

Addressing party supporters, the NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, said the new card could not be faked like the old one.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said the card had a hologram that contained all the information of the bearer, including the positions they had held in the party and a QR code that could be scanned to easily verify its\u00a0authenticity.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said the new card would also help the party in monitoring the dues of the members and to raise funds to support the activities of the party.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said the card would also help those at the polling station level to have a good record of its members and prevent the disagreements over polling station albums during the local elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Roll out<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said the roll out would be in phases, starting with the national, regional and constituency executives and later to the polling stations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Kodua tasked the executives at the polling stations to get all their members registered.<\/span><\/p>\n

He, however, cautioned them not to stop anyone from registering with the notion that the registration was going to be used for polling station albums.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said the registration was not going to be used for election but to enable the party to have a database of its members in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Present<\/strong><\/p>\n

Present at the launch was the National Chairman of the party, Stephen Ayensu Ntim; the former National Chairman, Peter Mac Manu; the National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye; the Communications Director, Richard Ahiagbah, and a host of government functionaries.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
