{"id":1232351,"date":"2022-10-23T21:16:07","date_gmt":"2022-10-23T21:16:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/23\/woman-found-dead-in-mining-pit-at-konongo-odumase\/"},"modified":"2022-10-23T21:16:07","modified_gmt":"2022-10-23T21:16:07","slug":"woman-found-dead-in-mining-pit-at-konongo-odumase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/23\/woman-found-dead-in-mining-pit-at-konongo-odumase\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman found dead in mining pit at Konongo-Odumase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The body of a yet-to-be-identified young woman has been recovered from an abandoned mining pit at Konongo-Odumase in the Asante Akim Central Municipality of the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased, believed to be in her late 20s, was reportedly using a private toilet facility that sunk into the pit that had been dug under it.<\/p>\n<p>According to eyewitnesses, it took Fire officers with the help of an excavator operator close to three hours to recover the lifeless body.<\/p>\n<p>It is a common phenomenon to find dug mining pits in houses in the area after a clampdown on in-house mining by the Government in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Residents say most houses in the area risk collapse due to numerous pits dug by illegal miners.<\/p>\n<p>Police have since conveyed the body and deposited it at a morgue.<\/p>\n<p>The pit and the toilet have since been covered after the body was recovered.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The body of a yet-to-be-identified young woman has been recovered from an abandoned mining pit at Konongo-Odumase in the Asante Akim Central Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
