{"id":1231002,"date":"2022-10-21T13:25:10","date_gmt":"2022-10-21T13:25:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/21\/minister-sacked-for-condemning-russia-at-un\/"},"modified":"2022-10-21T13:25:10","modified_gmt":"2022-10-21T13:25:10","slug":"minister-sacked-for-condemning-russia-at-un","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/21\/minister-sacked-for-condemning-russia-at-un\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister sacked for condemning Russia at UN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div wp_automatic_readability=\"31\">\n<p><figure><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Richard Randriamandranto has also worked as the country\u2019s finance minister<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Madagascar\u2019s president has sacked the country\u2019s foreign minister because he voted in favour of a UN resolution condemning Russian referendums to annex parts of Ukraine\u2019s territory, sources say.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Randriamandrato pressed ahead with the vote without talking to the rest of the government, the AFP news agency reports, citing state TV channel TVM.<\/p>\n<p>Two sources at the president\u2019s office also told Reuters news agency this was why he was sacked.<\/p>\n<p>There were 142 other countries that also voted in favour of the resolution to condemn Russia over the referendums which were viewed as a sham by much of the international community.<\/p>\n<p>Until now Madagascar has taken a neutral position on the Ukraine war, as have several other African countries.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of the countries that abstained were African.
