The Presidency says President Akufo-Addo\u2019s convoy did not hear the supposed booing during the President\u2019s recent tour of the Ashanti Region.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to the Communications Director at the Presidency, even President Akufo-Addo did not hear it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He added that himself (Eugene Arhin) was not aware of the jeers from onlookers.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t hear anything. Even the president himself [didn\u2019t hear anything too]. Some of us were a little bit taken aback [when we saw that in the media],\u201d he said in a media interview with Citi FM.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, Mr Arhin said the alleged booing could be akin to what happened to the President at the Global Citizen Festival Concert last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is just like, probably, what happened during the Global Citizen festival.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cA group of people standing somewhere doing their own thing, and they record\u2026 but meanwhile, once you are in front there, you literally don\u2019t hear anything,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n
There were scenes of jeers and catcalls for President Akufo-Addo, who was inspecting the Phase II of the Kejetia\/Central Market Project on Monday, October 17.\u00a0<\/p>\n
At the Kumasi Central Market, the convoy was met by scores of traders at Adum in the central business district who had displayed their wares for sale.<\/p>\n
On seeing the vehicles conveying the president and government officials, the group of market women, hawkers and artisans wasted no time in voicing their displeasure with the prevailing economic situation.<\/p>\n
