Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, a former Minister of Communications for NDC has asked Ghanaians not to believe in Akufo-Addo\/Bawumia when they blame Ghana’s economic woes on Covid 19 or Russia – Ukraine war.<\/p>\n
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Friday 21st October 2022, he wrote;<\/p>\n
“Cry my beloved country! Fellow Ghanaians,<\/p>\n
Let me be clear! Don\u2019t believe the Akufo-Addo\/Bawumia government when they blame Russia-Ukraine war and COVID-19 for the economic mess and catastrophic financial meltdown Ghana is experiencing today.”<\/p>\n
He added that Ghana is not the only country on the planet and in West Africa that has been affected by external factors. So why is Ghana failing so terribly?<\/p>\n
According to Dr Omane Boamah, he even pointed out to government in February 2020, before Covid-19 hit Ghana, that they were running an unsustainable debt plan; but were deliberately deploying and parroting voodooo calculations to deceive themselves and gaslight Ghanaians that all was well. Similarly, on the show I warned government about the cedi-dollar exchange rate parity.<\/p>\n

“It was a healthy Tv discussion with one of my successors, Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, on Bernard Avle\u2019s Talkshow.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The truth is, because of the incompetence of the Akufo-Addo\/Bawumia government:<\/p>\n
Budgets of families and businesses have been disrupted;<\/p>\n
Exchange rate is over the roof;<\/p>\n
Ghana’s debt profile has become an international disgrace;<\/p>\n
Fuel prices have shot up significantly;<\/p>\n
Transportation fares have seen frequent increases;<\/p>\n
Electricity and water bills have skyrocketed;<\/p>\n
The retail aspect of the pharmaceutical industry value chain is collapsing; and\u00a0Ghanaians are suffering and facing excruciating hardships in several spheres of our national life. ” He lamented <\/p>\n
He added that Diabetics, Hypertensives and others with chronic health conditions are really struggling to pay for routine drugs. Baby food is going beyond the financial reach of many homes…<\/p>\n
Yet, the sad and worrying bit is, the NPP government has no strategy to get us out of this mess they have created.<\/p>\n
