Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has expressed that he and Datti Baba-Ahmed, his running mate, have a grasp of the problems confronting the country.<\/p>\n
Obi made this remark on Monday at an event organised by the Arewa Joint Committee in Kaduna.<\/p>\n
He said the \u201cdomestic policy challenges\u201d have compounded the problems the country is facing, but assured that if elected into office, his administration would provide lasting solutions to the economic and security challenges in the north.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are cognizant of the domestic policy challenges that have accumulated over time; and that the lack of adequate public policy responses has made them worse, with a devastating impact on national unity, social cohesion, public trust in government, and economic performance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Nigeria\u2019s needs and unmet needs are very huge. Yet hunger, insecurity, poverty and deprivation know no tribe, religion or gender.<\/p>\n \u201c[We\u2019ll] ensure that farmers return to all farmlands for the 2023 farming season. We will make Nigeria\u2019s arable land in the north her new oil and gold.<\/p>\n \u201cAs part of our plan for education, we will foster federal intervention in education at all levels in the north and partnership with state governments and international organisations in order to improve access to affordable and quality education at all levels.<\/p>\n \u201c[We\u2019ll] ensure very adequate representation in government, equitable appointments especially in the security and economic sectors.\u201d<\/p>\n While adding that he would channel sustainable developmental efforts to the north if he is elected, Obi said the region has the potential to drive economic prosperity for Nigeria.<\/p>\n \u201cWe shall pay as much attention to the development of the north as to the development of all parts of the country; but with much greater emphasis on the development of the agricultural resources,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe north remains where the biggest ad sustainable wealth of this great nation lies.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Peter Obi Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has expressed that he and Datti Baba-Ahmed, his running mate, have a grasp of the problems confronting the country.
