{"id":1230129,"date":"2022-10-20T19:17:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-20T19:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/20\/weve-identified-specific-policies-to-restore-macroeconomic-stability-in-ghana\/"},"modified":"2022-10-20T19:17:00","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T19:17:00","slug":"weve-identified-specific-policies-to-restore-macroeconomic-stability-in-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/20\/weve-identified-specific-policies-to-restore-macroeconomic-stability-in-ghana\/","title":{"rendered":"We&#8217;ve identified specific policies to restore macroeconomic stability in Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and government have identified specific policies to help stabilise the Ghanaian economy from its current predicament.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed in a statement by the Bretton Woods after its officials visited Ghana from 11th to 19th October 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The IMF team which was led by St\u00e9phane Roudet met the Finance Minister, Ofori-Atta, Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison to continue discussions on a possible IMF-supported program.<\/p>\n<p>At the conclusion of the meetings, Mr. Roudet issued the following statement:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ghanaian delegation and IMF staff had very fruitful discussions on the authorities\u2019 post-COVID program for economic growth and associated policies and reforms that could be supported by a new IMF arrangement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said:\u00a0\u201cWe made good progress in identifying specific policies that would restore macroeconomic stability and lay the foundation for stronger and more inclusive growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Roudet added in the statement that, the IMF team and the Ghanaian authorities remain fully committed to reaching an agreement on a framework and policies for an IMF-supported program as soon as feasible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDiscussions will continue in the weeks ahead, with a follow-up mission to take place expeditiously,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Government of Ghana is seeking $3 billion support from the IMF following a downturn in the Ghanaian economy.<\/p>\n<p>Government has attributed its decision to seek an IMF bailout on COVID-19 expenditures and the Russia-Ukraine war.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"1kicPMh2gRg\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u2018Seeking IMF bailout doesn\u2019t mean E-Levy has failed\u2019 \u2013 Oppong Nkrumah\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1kicPMh2gRg?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and government have identified specific policies to help stabilise the Ghanaian economy from its current predicament.
