{"id":1229756,"date":"2022-10-20T12:52:25","date_gmt":"2022-10-20T12:52:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/20\/buipe-township-hit-by-flooding\/"},"modified":"2022-10-20T12:52:25","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T12:52:25","slug":"buipe-township-hit-by-flooding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/20\/buipe-township-hit-by-flooding\/","title":{"rendered":"Buipe township hit by flooding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Hundreds have been displaced after flooding in the Buipe township in the Savannah Region.<\/p>\n<p>Water from the Black Volta river divided the Buipe township into two, affecting some 170 households.<\/p>\n<p>Some residents are moving across town with canoes because of the flooding.<\/p>\n<p>Schools, workplaces cattle ranches, among other places were not left out of the devastation.<\/p>\n<p>One affected resident said: \u201cI own a shop with building materials, but because of the river, it has blocked the road and the customers can\u2019t come there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The disruption has been worsening as the volume of water entering the community rises by the day.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-887949\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Buipe-township-hit-by-flooding-7.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"924\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-887950\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Buipe-township-hit-by-flooding-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"914\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Some residents are also preparing for the worst and are planning to relocate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking for a place to relocate because from next week, we will have to leave the house,\u201d Ali Sarafina, a resident, said.<\/p>\n<p>The community has called on the government for relief support as it continues to deal with flooding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are really in distress.
