{"id":1229689,"date":"2022-10-20T11:26:14","date_gmt":"2022-10-20T11:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/20\/traders-advocacy-group-opposes-gutas-shop-closures\/"},"modified":"2022-10-20T11:26:14","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T11:26:14","slug":"traders-advocacy-group-opposes-gutas-shop-closures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/20\/traders-advocacy-group-opposes-gutas-shop-closures\/","title":{"rendered":"Traders Advocacy Group opposes GUTA&#8217;s shop closures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"462\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1666127593_502_Guta-696x462.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Guta\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">File photo: Locked up shops<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The General Secretary of Traders Advocacy Group Ghana, Nana Poku, has disagreed with the Ghana Union of Traders Associations\u2019 (GUTA) approach to getting the government\u2019s attention on the impact of the economic downturn on their businesses.<\/p>\n<p>GUTA members on Wednesday closed their shops in Accra to protest the deteriorating economic situation which is dwindling the capital of their businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The group described the industrial action, which will end on Monday, October 24, as a \u201cpinch\u201d of government to urgently address the depreciating cedi, high-interest rate and inflation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an interview on <strong>Joy FM\u2019s Top Story <\/strong>on Wednesday, in reaction, Mr Poku indicated that closing of shops is a thing of the past.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the action taken by GUTA members would not necessarily force the government to act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClosing shops should be the last resort. I for one will say it is a thing of the past,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The Traders Advocacy Group did not partake in GUTA\u2019s action.
