Anyone who knows Shatta Wale will certainly know Stonebwoy too, and vice versa.<\/p>\n
The duo are the biggest dancehall exports Ghana has had. They have played their roles very well as bigwigs, perfecting their crafts to match their standards.<\/p>\n
If there is one memorable activity about the two, it should be their usual brawls, igniting almost every little opportunity they get. The two have been at loggerheads for the past years.<\/p>\n
To go in direction with the saying that there can not be two kings with equal power in the same kingdom, the flame of their altercation was then rekindled in 2019 by Shatta Wale and his crew going up into the stage when Stonebwoy was declared the winner of the Vodafone Ghana Awards for Dancehall Artiste of the Year. If Shatta Wale\u2019s account after the show was to be believed, (\u201cMy crew had good intentions\u201d) he was moving up to congratulate Stonebwoy, in a public attempt to promote peace amongst themselves going forward. Stonebwoy however, interpreted the gesture as trouble from Shatta. In videos aftermath, he was filmed pulling a gun from a security detail on-stage. The incident caused a major fracas and the awards show was in disarray.<\/p>\n
\u201cI only had to react out of natural instincts because we all know how premeditative some people can be. We\u2019ve seen on social media the threats and everything so we couldn\u2019t come in unprepared,\u201d Stonebwoy reportedly said. \u201cI come in peace and I go in peace and I apologise to the whole masses of Ghana that the awards are going to continue.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The two artistes later appeared in court. While Shatta Wale pleaded \u201cNot guilty\u201d to Offensive Conduct to Breaches of the Peace, Stonebwoy pleaded \u201cNot guilty\u201d to an additional charge of Display of a Weapon in a Public Place without permission.<\/p>\n After the hearing, they were granted bail of \u00a250,000 each with one surety and cautioned to be of good behaviour until the determination of the case, which was scheduled to continue on June 20th, when both artistes would appear in court. Further punishment was meted too: the artistes were stripped of all the awards they won at the awards. They were also banned indefinitely by the organizers, Charterhouse.<\/p>\n However, the duo smoked a peace pipe after they were sat down by elders in the entertainment industry, the VGMA band was also lifted in 2021, even though the artists have not submitted their projects for nomination since after that.<\/p>\n The Shatta Movement boss turns 38 today, October 17, 2022.
