{"id":1226637,"date":"2022-10-17T13:00:31","date_gmt":"2022-10-17T13:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/17\/fuel-price-to-hit-gh%c2%a218-per-liter-in-december-if-copec\/"},"modified":"2022-10-17T13:00:31","modified_gmt":"2022-10-17T13:00:31","slug":"fuel-price-to-hit-gh%c2%a218-per-liter-in-december-if-copec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/17\/fuel-price-to-hit-gh%c2%a218-per-liter-in-december-if-copec\/","title":{"rendered":"Fuel price to hit GH\u00a218 per liter in December if&#8230; COPEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"464\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_1153-696x464.jpg\"   alt=\"The ExecutiChamber of Petroleum Consumers of Ghana (COPEC), Duncan Amoah\" title=\"The ExecutiChamber of Petroleum Consumers of Ghana (COPEC), Duncan Amoah\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Duncan Amoah<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana (COPEC) is predicting a marginal increase in fuel prices ahead of the yuletide.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Chamber, the prices could hit GH\u00a218 by the end of the year if nothing is done to curb the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Executive Secretary of COPEC, Duncan Amoah<strong>, <\/strong>disclosed this in an interview on Adom FM\u2019s morning show <strong>Dwaso Nsem<\/strong> Monday.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have begun increasing the prices of petroleum products at the pumps.<\/p>\n<p>Checks by Joy Business indicate that some OMCs are selling a price of petrol per liter for \u00a213.10, from the previous price of \u00a211.10, about 16% increase.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the price of diesel per liter has shot up to about \u00a215.99, from the previous price of \u00a213.90. This is about a 12% surge.<\/p>\n<p>But Mr Amoah said the Oil Marketing Companies cannot be blamed for the increase.<\/p>\n<p>The major contributory factor, he stated is the depreciation of the cedi against the dollar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not want us to get there and I think that authorities and those within the policy space will need to wake up from their sleep,\u201d the COPEC boss added.<\/p>\n<p>He urged government to put in place measures to cushion consumers in the wake of incessant increment.<\/p>\n<p>            <!--  [embed]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=videoseries[\/embed]<!--\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>--><\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"qCMbjLeGYsE\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Should government regulate religious organizations?
