{"id":1221565,"date":"2022-10-11T16:14:50","date_gmt":"2022-10-11T16:14:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/11\/jinapor-backs-mireku-duker-after-galamsey-allegations\/"},"modified":"2022-10-11T16:14:50","modified_gmt":"2022-10-11T16:14:50","slug":"jinapor-backs-mireku-duker-after-galamsey-allegations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/11\/jinapor-backs-mireku-duker-after-galamsey-allegations\/","title":{"rendered":"Jinapor backs Mireku Duker after galamsey allegations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Lands and Natural Resources Minister, John Jinapor, has backed his deputy, George Mireku Duker, amid claims he is involved in illegal mining and owns a concession.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to journalists in Accra on Tuesday, Mr. Jinapor said, \u201cif there is any such substance to such allegations, I think the best way to proceed is with investigations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. Duker has denied the allegations<\/strong>, which came from a sub-chief of Dompim-Pepesa in Tarkwa in the Western Region.<\/p>\n<p>The Western Region is noted as one of the illegal mining hotspots in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>The claims notwithstanding, Mr. Jinapor expressed confidence that his deputy was innocent of the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe matters are still at play, and I think that the [deputy] minister has denied it flatly.
