Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party\u2019s (PDP) presidential candidate, has promised to combat poverty and insecurity if elected in the general election of 2023.<\/p>\n
In Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom, the former vice president addressed on Monday at the launch of the PDP\u2019s presidential campaign.<\/p>\n
Abubakar, who had left the APC in 2017 \u2014 three years after he joined \u2014 said when PDP was in power, it \u201clifted Nigeria from the bottom to the top\u201d and made the country the biggest in economic terms in Africa.<\/p>\n
He claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had fallen short of its election-year pledges to improve the nation after replacing the PDP.<\/p>\n

What we have seen is poverty, insecurity, lack of jobs and disunity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cOur children are no longer going to school. Is that what we want to continue with?<\/p>\n \u201cToday, we have flagged off our campaign to rescue Nigeria from hunger, and poverty and to bring back the unity that we require in this country.
