President Akufo-Addo paid tribute to the legendary highlife musician, Nana Kwame\u00a0Ampadu.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the funeral of the legendary Highlife musician, held at the forecourt of the State House in Accra, President Akufo-Addo emphasised the Musician\u2019s contribution to the music industry and how it impacted his (Akufo-Addo\u2019s) political life.<\/p>\n

\u201cTalk of the commencement and growth of highlife music, and one of the people whose names will be on the lips of most Ghanaians is Nana Kwame Ampadu.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe outpouring of grief by many Ghanaians following the news of his death is in appreciation of the impact his music had on successive generations of Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was one of Ghana\u2019s musical icons and undoubtedly a legendary highlife artiste whose music transcended our national borders,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President spoke of how supportive the late Nana Ampadu was of his vision \u201cfor the transformation of Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe assisted me tremendously on the campaign trail in the run-up to the victory of my party, the NPP, and the elections of 2016, for which we remain eternally grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President consoled the family and said the late highlife artiste will be \u201csorely missed by all who had the opportunity of knowing and meeting him\u201d.<\/p>\n

The final part of the funeral rites will be held on Saturday, October 8, at Obo Kwahu in the Eastern Region, where his remains will be taken for interment.<\/p>\n

Nana Kwame Ampadu passed on at the age of 76 on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, after he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra.<\/p>\n

He is known for songs like \u2018Kukrukukru\u2019, \u2018Ebe Te Yie\u2019, \u2018Agatha\u2019, \u2018Obra\u2019, and \u2018Oman Bo Adwo\u2019, among others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
