An Accra Central market is where a 19 year old father of two sleeps after working as a porter to provide for two girls each day (ages 3 and 2).<\/p>\n

Derrick Osei enjoys dancing in addition to his job as a porter. He claims that after quitting school, that drove him onto the streets. He disclosed that he left JHS 3 after his grandparent’s passing.<\/p>\n

Derrick said to SVTV Africa’s DJ Nyaami that he disregarded his duty as a father to four children despite the fact that his father was still alive. Three of them are ex-students.<\/p>\n

The oldest finished JHS, although she had the option of continuing her education. My younger brother and I are both market potters. For the market ladies, we bring tomatoes.\u00a0The other one is in SHS, but my uncle supports her. My father works, but I don\u2019t know if it is my stepmother who has polluted his mind,\u201d Derrick noted.<\/p>\n

Derrick aspires to be a professional dancer, but he also wants to either pursue further education or work as a mechanic’s apprentice. He said, “I’ve recognised it’s crucial, and the system now wants qualifications.”<\/p>\n

Derrick remarked that he is not easily influenced by friends while discussing the impact of the street on him. He admitted that he entered adulthood too quickly, but it had also taught him to work hard.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have never smoked. I don\u2019t take alcohol. Everyone lives a different lifestyle here. Being friends with you doesn\u2019t mean we live the same lifestyle. I have friends with tattoos and piercings, but I don\u2019t have any,\u201d he said on Ghetto Life Story Show.<\/span><\/p>\n
