{"id":1217448,"date":"2022-10-06T16:05:50","date_gmt":"2022-10-06T16:05:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/06\/government-records-fiscal-deficit-of-6-4-as-of-september-30-2022-bog\/"},"modified":"2022-10-06T16:05:50","modified_gmt":"2022-10-06T16:05:50","slug":"government-records-fiscal-deficit-of-6-4-as-of-september-30-2022-bog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/06\/government-records-fiscal-deficit-of-6-4-as-of-september-30-2022-bog\/","title":{"rendered":"Government records fiscal deficit of 6.4% as of September 30, 2022 &#8211; BoG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1664386581_288_WhatsApp-Image-2022-09-28-at-1.04.44-PM-1024x731.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\">\n<p>Budget implementation, using banking sector data, for the first 9-months of this year recorded an elevated overall cash deficit of 6.4% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).<\/p>\n<p>This is against the revised programmed target of 5.0% of GDP.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Bank of Ghana, total receipts of \u00a251.49 billion (8.7% of GDP) over the review period, fell short of projected target of \u00a260.08 billion (10.2% of GDP).<\/p>\n<p>This represented 85.7% of the budgeted estimate.<\/p>\n<p>Also, total payments of \u00a289.04 billion (15.0% of GDP) was almost on target, representing 99.5% of \u00a289.46 billion (15.1% of GDP).<\/p>\n<p>The Central Bank added that the deficit of \u00a237.56 billion, together with net foreign loan repayments of \u00a23.54 billion, created a resource gap of \u00a241.1 billion, which was financed from domestic sources and use of resources from the stabilization fund.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Government meets fiscal deficit target of 5.3% of GDP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, had earlier pointed out that government met its fiscal deficit target of 5.3% of GDP in the first seven months of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the overall fiscal deficit amounted to \u00a231.1 billion (5.3% of GDP), against a target of \u00a231.2 billion (5.3% of GDP).<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-myjoyonline-com wp-block-embed-myjoyonline-com\"\/><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Budget implementation, using banking sector data, for the first 9-months of this year recorded an elevated overall cash deficit of 6.4% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
