\nA Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Professor Joseph Tufuor Kwarteng has expressed his disappointments in President Akufo-Addo\u2019s leadership and handling of affairs in the country.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nHe says prior to assuming the high office of the land, President Akufo-Addo was seen as a no nonsense man who will not accept wrongdoings in his administration.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThis, he however says, has been proven otherwise considering how the President keeps praising and shielding his corrupt and non-performing appointees.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nReacting to President Akufo-Addo\u2019s meeting with the National House of Chiefs at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, Professor Tuffour says Ghanaians are fed up with the talks on the issue of illegal mining in the country.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nWhat Ghanaians are now interested in, he says, is action which will result in the sacking of appointees under whose supervision illegal mining continues to destroy the country\u2019s water bodies and forest reserves.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nProfessor Tuffour further made the following remarks while speaking on Accra-based Okay FM on Thursday, October 6, 2022.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cWhat I expected from the President while he met with the National House of Chiefs and MMDCEs was that he would have sacked some of his appointees who are especially in the areas where illegal mining is taking place because they have failed.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cThat is when we would have known that the President is committed to the fight against galamsey.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cBut when he is always talking without any form of punishment, people will not take him seriously because they know that they will continue to enjoy their position regardless of their failure.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cPeople are saying that the Akufo-Addo we know 20 years ago is not the same Akufo-Addo we know now.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cWhen Nana wasn\u2019t in power we thought when he came he would be like Magufuli but we don\u2019t see that so people are engaging in all kinds of things and go away without being punished. It\u2019s high time the President cracked the whip\u201d, he said.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
