Stella McCartney hopes people didn\u2019t notice she has a sustainable collection.<\/p>\n
The 51-year-old star has reflected on her recent Paris Fashion Week catwalk show, putting her spring-summer 2023 designs on display, including designs featuring regenerative cotton and leather alternatives.<\/p>\n
She told The Guardian newspaper: \u201cIf I\u2019m doing my job right, you shouldn\u2019t see any of the sustainability.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt should just look like the most luxurious, glamorous show. I don\u2019t want it to look like sustainable fashion \u2013 I want it to look sexy and effortless and easy.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, she did want to catch the eye of Bernard Arnault \u2013 the third richest man in the world and both the chief executive and chairman of LVMH \u2013 as he sat in the front row for the event.<\/p>\n
She explained: \u201cI have this incredible seat at the table, and I want to use that position to change fashion from the inside.<\/p>\n
\u201cMr Arnault is not stupid. While he is watching my show, looking at all these non-leather shoes, non-leather bags, non-leather jackets, he can compare what he\u2019s looking at with the other brands.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe can see that there is no sacrifice visually, or in make, or in quality, in what I\u2019m doing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her goal is to \u201cinfiltrate from within\u201d and convince him that the grape skins from his company\u2019s vineyards can make a difference by becoming raw material for more people making leather-alternative fashion pieces.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, McCartney also explained the reason behind her outdoor show in Paris this week.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cI wanted anyone who wanted to come and see the show to be able to.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy clothes are very wearable and approachable \u2013 the exclusivity of the fashion industry is not my vibe. And outdoors is my thing \u2013 I\u2019m in nature, in the elements, as much as I can be.\u201d<\/p>\n
