The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has paid about \u00a22.4 billion as benefits to retired workers as of August 2022.<\/p>\n
This is slightly higher than the amount paid during the same period in 2021.<\/p>\n
According to the Director General, Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang, this is expected to surpass the \u00a23.2 billion paid the entire last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe pay every 3rd Thursday of the month. Last year, we paid \u00a23.2 billion as benefits to our members (pensioners)\u201d, he disclosed at the launch of the Mobile Service Week at Ho in the Volta region.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year, up until August ending [August 31, 2022], we\u2019ve paid 2.4 billion already. By the time the year comes to an end we would have surpassed the 3.2 billion we paid last year\u2019, he mentioned.<\/p>\n
He also pointed out the Trust spent \u00a2280 million every month to settle pensioners.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery month, we pay \u00a2280 million to our members and this has been consistent till this day. We\u2019ve never defaulted\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n
SSNIT launches Mobile Service Week at Ho<\/strong><\/p>\n The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has launched its annual Mobile Service Week at Ho in the Volta Region.<\/p>\n The SSNIT Mobile Service (SMS) Week is an annual event that provides SSNIT branches the opportunity to pitch camp at various locations across the country to bring the services of the Trust to the doorsteps of its Members and Clients.<\/p>\n A total of 69 vantage locations have been selected across the 16 regions of the country to provide services to Members and Clients to enable them access the services of the Trust with ease.<\/p>\n Services being offered include issuance of Statements of Accounts, registration of employers and workers, benefits processing initiation, renewal of Pensioner Certificates, merging of SSNIT and NIA numbers, general enquiries about the business and operations of SSNIT among other services.<\/p>\n The event being observed under the theme: \u201cYou also deserve a Pension; Join SSNIT today\u201d began today, 3rd October, 2022 and is expected to end on Friday, 7th October, 2022.<\/p>\n Speaking during his keynote address, the Director-General of SSNIT noted the theme for the occasion is borne out of the Trust\u2019s commitment to ensure every worker in Ghana receives a decent pension.<\/p>\n He indicated that self-employed workers in the country constitute the largest working population but most of these workers have no social security cover and it is in their interest to register onto the Scheme and enjoy the benefits.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has paid about \u00a22.4 billion as benefits to retired workers as of August 2022.
