American rapper Coolio has passed away at the age of 59.<\/p>\n
The musician, famous for his \u2018Gangsta\u2019s Paradise\u2019 song on the soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer film, \u2018Dangerous Minds\u2019, was visiting a friend on Wednesday afternoon when he was found dead, according to\u00a0TMZ.<\/p>\n
The star\u2019s\u00a0manager, Jarez, shared that\u00a0Coolio was found unresponsive on a bathroom floor, with the paramedics \u2013 who were called to the scene around\u00a0 4pm \u2013 suspecting he suffered cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n
The publication reported that the EMTs pronounced Coolio dead on the scene.\u00a0An official cause of death has not been determined.<\/p>\n
The police have reportedly opened a death investigation but there does not appear to be signs of foul play at the moment, and the coroner is expected to make a final determination after the autopsy.<\/p>\n
He is survived by his six children and ex-wife, Josefa Salinas, whom he married in 1996. The former couple split four years later.<\/p>\n
The hip-hop artist, born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., enjoyed a meteoric rise in the mid-90s.<\/p>\n
He later became a chef and even released a cookbook titled \u201cCookin\u2019 with Coolio\u201d.<\/p>\n
He also appeared on an episode of Celebrity Wife Swap in 2013.<\/p>\n
Rapper Ice Cube took to Twitter after hearing the sad news and paid tribute to Coolio, writing, \u201cThis is sad news. I witness first hand this man\u2019s grind to the top of the industry. Rest In Peace.\u201d<\/p>\n
