{"id":1213646,"date":"2022-09-29T21:24:44","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T21:24:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/29\/ghana-elected-chair-of-commonwealth-itu-group\/"},"modified":"2022-09-29T21:24:44","modified_gmt":"2022-09-29T21:24:44","slug":"ghana-elected-chair-of-commonwealth-itu-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/29\/ghana-elected-chair-of-commonwealth-itu-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana elected Chair of Commonwealth ITU Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/WhatsApp Image 2022-09-27 at 6.41.00 AM.jpeg\" alt=\"Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful\" class=\" bd-imagestyles-16\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\nMinister for Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2>The Republic of Ghana has been elected Chair of the Commonwealth ITU Group (CIG) for a four-year term in Bucharest, Romania.<\/h2>\n<p>The CIG which is made up of fifty-four (54) Commonwealth countries meets periodically to establish a set of objectives to be achieved at various conferences and meetings of the ITU on a myriad of subjects including International Telecom Regulation, Policy, Radio Spectrum and its related matters, type approval and standardisation.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the objectives is to address the concerns of member-states in all aspects of telecommunications development and implementation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/ministers22.jpg\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>The Minister in a group picture with Ministers of other member countries<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The election on September 25, 2022, marks Ghana\u2019s first time serving on the Group as its Chair; Ghana co-chaired the Group with the United Kingdom for the just-ended tenure.
