{"id":1213128,"date":"2022-09-29T08:33:17","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T08:33:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/29\/commercial-banks-support-bog-decision-to-deny-mobile-money-loan-defaulters-access-to-future-credit\/"},"modified":"2022-09-29T08:33:17","modified_gmt":"2022-09-29T08:33:17","slug":"commercial-banks-support-bog-decision-to-deny-mobile-money-loan-defaulters-access-to-future-credit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/29\/commercial-banks-support-bog-decision-to-deny-mobile-money-loan-defaulters-access-to-future-credit\/","title":{"rendered":"Commercial banks support BoG decision to deny Mobile Money loan defaulters access to future credit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Philip-Owiredu.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\">\n<p>Commercial Banks have thrown their weight behind the Bank of Ghana to deny individuals access to future credit for deliberately refusing to register their SIM cards in the ongoing national SIM Card registration exercise, with the intention of dodging loan repayments through their Mobile Money platforms.<\/p>\n<p>The Central Bank in a statement indicated that data of all Mobile Money loan customers are domiciled in the databases of credit bureaus, hence failure to repay such loans will attract \u201cnegative repercussions on borrowers\u2019 credit.<\/p>\n<p>Managing Director of Cal Bank PLC, Philip Owiredu told Joy Business the warning is a step in the right direction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think is a good call from the Central Bank because it\u2019s about time we institute some right credit culture within the economy. We always keep talking about bank credit being high.
