{"id":1212465,"date":"2022-09-28T11:14:45","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T11:14:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/28\/footage-for-akufo-addos-tourism-video-was-acquired-legitimately-from-an-agency-gta-on-kirani-ayats-theft-claims\/"},"modified":"2022-09-28T11:14:45","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T11:14:45","slug":"footage-for-akufo-addos-tourism-video-was-acquired-legitimately-from-an-agency-gta-on-kirani-ayats-theft-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/28\/footage-for-akufo-addos-tourism-video-was-acquired-legitimately-from-an-agency-gta-on-kirani-ayats-theft-claims\/","title":{"rendered":"Footage for Akufo-Addo&#8217;s tourism video was acquired legitimately from an agency &#8211; GTA on Kirani Ayat&#8217;s theft claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Untitled.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This footage, which is originally from the &#8216;Guda&#8217; music video, features in video promoting tourism<\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\">\n<p>The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has dismissed claims that some footage used for the new tourism promotional video which features President Akufo-Addo was pirated.<\/p>\n<p>In a press statement, the Authority stated that they procured the footage Kirani Ayat is claiming ownership of legitimately from a creative agency in 2019 as part of a project.<\/p>\n<p>The Authority noted that \u201caccording to Clause 2 (b) of the MOU signed with the Agency (Obligations: Responsibility of the Agency), the Agency was to \u201cDeliver imaginative and impactful social strategies, such as content or documentaries for the use of GTA \u2018as it so wishes\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The GTA stated that the agency delivered the content to the Authority, and the Authority used the content in accordance with the terms of the MOU.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Beneath the deep blue sky, the Black Star is calling. The content was used in accordance with the terms agreed with the agency and not as being alleged,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after musician Kirani Ayat called out the Tourism Ministry and the Authority for copyright infringement. This was after a video shared on President Akufo-Addo\u2019s social media handles promoting tourism used footage from his \u2018Guda\u2019 music video.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"pMVa8BS_SrQ\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kirani Ayat - GUDA (Official Video) Directed. David Nicol-sey\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pMVa8BS_SrQ?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The two-minute video featured different scenes from different parts of the country and a voice-over by the President encouraging tourism.\u00a0 The video directed by David Nicol-Sey was shot mainly in the Northern part of Ghana showcasing the culture and the beauty.<\/p>\n<p>Kirani Ayat who was not pleased to see his work used without his consent noted that he spent his all in making the video without aid from anyone and yet he was not compensated after his content was used.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president of Ghana has used my video \u201cGUDA\u201d in this ad to promote Ghana. I was actively reaching out to the Ministry of Tourism in 2018\/19 to use this video to push tourism in the North and got NO reply, yet today it\u2019s in an ad and no one reached out to me for permission,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Whoever worked on this video should\u2019ve reached out to the rightful content owners before proceeding. I spent my all in making GUDA possible, I\u2019m sure you were paid for this job, where is my cut?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also, the director David Nicol-Sey also on Twitter stated that the video also contained footage from Fuse ODG\u2019s \u2018African Girl\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>He added that creatives deserve to get paid for their content especially when they had no help from anyone when making their content.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-myjoyonline-com wp-block-embed-myjoyonline-com\"\/>\n<p>\u201cCreatives struggle to create content with their last dime with zero support from @NAkufoAddo and @MOTACGhana. Did your team reach out to the content owners for authorisation before using @KiraniAYAT\u2019s GUDA and @FuseODG\u2019s African girl in promoting your \u201cvisit ghana\u201d campaign?\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-myjoyonline-com wp-block-embed-myjoyonline-com\"\/>\n<p>Meanwhile,\u00a0 the GTA stated that despite their stance, they have reached out to the agency to deal with the issue after Kirani Ayat aired his concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is without prejudice to any legal options available to the Authority against the Artiste and\/or Agency or vice versa.
