{"id":1212138,"date":"2022-09-27T21:50:40","date_gmt":"2022-09-27T21:50:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/27\/global-citizen-festival-dancegod-lloyd-couldnt-join-us-on-stage-because-he-was-unavailable-dwp-academys-afrobeast\/"},"modified":"2022-09-27T21:50:40","modified_gmt":"2022-09-27T21:50:40","slug":"global-citizen-festival-dancegod-lloyd-couldnt-join-us-on-stage-because-he-was-unavailable-dwp-academys-afrobeast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/27\/global-citizen-festival-dancegod-lloyd-couldnt-join-us-on-stage-because-he-was-unavailable-dwp-academys-afrobeast\/","title":{"rendered":"Global Citizen Festival: Dancegod Lloyd couldn\u2019t join us on stage because he was unavailable \u2013 DWP Academy\u2019s Afrobeast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Dancegod-Lloyd-And-Afrobeast-1200x720-1-1024x614.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\">\n<p>Dancer Nicholas Botchey, popularly known as Afrobeast has revealed the reason his partner and co-founder of the dance group <em>Dance with Purpose<\/em>, Dancegod Lloyd was absent from Usher\u2019s set at the Global Citizen Festival held on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Afrobeast, Dancegod Lloyd was \u201cunavailable\u201d throughout the rehearsal session for the event, as he was attending to other equally important projects in another country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDancegod Lloyd happened to be in Nigeria during the rehearsals,\u201d said Afrobeast. \u201cHe missed 90% of the entire rehearsal sessions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=314&#038;href=https%3A%2F%2Fweb.facebook.com%2FHitz1039%2Fvideos%2F479568637384940%2F&#038;show_text=false&#038;width=560&#038;t=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Even though the \u201cdance god\u201d was through with his project before the final rehearsal kicked off, he couldn\u2019t join the crew to perform because the list of dancers had already been submitted to the Global Citizen Festival event organizers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe thing is, they wanted a certain amount of number and Dancegod Lloyd wasn\u2019t available at the time,\u201d Afrobeast revealed.<\/p>\n<p>He further explained, \u201cBefore you even get on the stage, they go through the list \u2014and if your name is not in the list, you can\u2019t be on the stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/Ci-ijQBj0G4\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<p>The dancer added that the presence of strict protocols made it uncomfortable, and would seem \u201cunfair\u201d for him to make certain decisions like calling for a sudden replacement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso, there was a lot of technical staff on the stage, and it will be a little bit messy\u2026 It won\u2019t be nice if I am to take someone out and replace the person with Dancegod Lloyd,\u201d he said on <strong>Hitz FM.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When asked whether Dancegod Lloyd willingly refused to join the crew to perform at the event, Afrobeast responded, \u201cNo, he didn\u2019t refuse.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/Ci6UAFOIbw7\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<p>He went on to reveal that Dancegod Lloyd was the first person to call him [Afrobeast] when he got the information that one of Usher\u2019s choreographers had reached out to DWP Academy via Instagram for a dance routine for the R&#038;B artist specifically for the event.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, before the Global Citizen Festival was staged, a rumour was rife that the \u201cdance god\u201d had parted ways with DWP Academy following a misunderstanding he had with one of the managers of the group, Quables.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, Dancegod Lloyd\u2019s absence on that stage cemented the fact that the rumours were true.
