{"id":1211838,"date":"2022-09-27T13:27:08","date_gmt":"2022-09-27T13:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/27\/i-want-to-win-afcon-or-world-cup-with-black-stars\/"},"modified":"2022-09-27T13:27:08","modified_gmt":"2022-09-27T13:27:08","slug":"i-want-to-win-afcon-or-world-cup-with-black-stars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/27\/i-want-to-win-afcon-or-world-cup-with-black-stars\/","title":{"rendered":"I want to win AFCON or World Cup with Black Stars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"515\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/03281e1328a855c178d06e4930451a1c_L-696x515.jpg\"   alt=\"Andre Ayew\" title=\"Andre Ayew\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andre Ayew<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Andre Ayew\u00a0has said his only aim is to lead the Black Stars to win a major trophy (the Africa Cup of Nations or the World Cup).<\/p>\n<p>The West African country has not won any major trophy since winning the 1982 AFCON in Libya.<\/p>\n<p>The Black Stars have come close to ending the trophy drought in 1992, 2010, and 2015.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old has been with the national team for almost a decade and a half, having risen through the ranks after making his debut in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Ayew was a key member of the all-conquering side that swept the U20 AFCON and U20 FIFA World Cup titles in 2009 and was also a member of the team that lost the AFCON 2010 and AFCON 2015 to Egypt and Ivory Coast respectively.<\/p>\n<p>With Ghana preparing to grace the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the former Swansea City star insists his only goal is to win a trophy with his country.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, he wants to end his career by winning either the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) or the FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor myself, to be real, I don\u2019t have personal targets. The only personal target I had\u2014 and still have \u2014 since I joined the Black Stars was to win a trophy with the team,\u201d\u00a0Ayew, who is the Black Stars captain told <strong>Graphic Sports.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s my only target and I\u2019ve been close several times (the 2010 AFCON and 2015 AFCON final).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI won the Under-20 AFCON and won the Under-20 World Cup trophies, but my only target is to win a trophy in the Black Stars jersey, any trophy that I can win \u2014 AFCON or the World Cup trophy.
