An Applied Economics Professor at the John Hopkins University in the United State of America, Steve Hanke criticized President Akufo-Addo for his handling of the Ghanaian economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

He says should stop playing the blame game and take responsibility for the mess that his administration has plunged Ghana’s economy into.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ghana’s economy is currently struggling with rising cost of living for the ordinary Ghanaian.<\/span><\/p>\n

Government and its spokesperson have maintained that the Russia-Ukraine war and the Covid-19 pandemic are the cause of Ghana’s economic crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo recently at a United Nations Summit held in New York reiterated the impact of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine War on Ghana’s economy to world leaders at the United Nations summit held yesterday in New York.<\/span><\/p>\n

“As we grapple with these economic challenges, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine burst upon us, aggravating an already difficult situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s not just the dismay that we feel at seeing such deliberate devastation of cities and towns in Europe in the year 20222, we are feeling this war directly in our lives in Africa”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Every bullet, every bomb, every shell that hits a target in Ukraine, hits our pockets and our economies in Africa. The economic turmoil is global with inflation as the number one enemy this year”, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

But Professor Hanke, who has taken a keen interest in Ghana in recent times, will have none of this excuse.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a Tweet, he says “when it comes to the source of #Ghana’s economic problems, Pres. Akufo-Addo plays the BLAME GAME. You know it wasn’t me, it was the guy behind the tree. Today, I measured GHA’s inflation at 83%\/year. That’s more than DOUBLE the phony official rate”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Professor Hanke has in several tweets in the past said Ghana’s economy is a serious mess and which may soon be hit with a recession.<\/span><\/p>\n
