{"id":1209887,"date":"2022-09-23T17:14:32","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T17:14:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/23\/german-cooperation-offers-women-free-online-financial-literacy-training\/"},"modified":"2022-09-23T17:14:32","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T17:14:32","slug":"german-cooperation-offers-women-free-online-financial-literacy-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/23\/german-cooperation-offers-women-free-online-financial-literacy-training\/","title":{"rendered":"German Cooperation offers women free online financial literacy training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>By Kodjo Adams\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Accra, Sept. 23, GNA \u2014 GIZ Ghana on Friday\u202flaunched free online financial literacy training programme to empower Ghanaian women.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The programme dubbed: \u201c\u202fMaking Remittances Work for You,\u201d is under the Programme Migration and Diaspora, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The e-learning programme aims to educate people, particularly women, through an interactive online course on basic skills to manage their remittances from the diaspora productively.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The capacity-building measure is being implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fir Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Ghana.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr Guskowski, Head of Sustainable Economic Development at GIZ Ghana, said online modules had already been designed to cover diaspora money transfers on relevant business-related areas such as entrepreneurship, insurance, savings, and investment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGIZ seeks to create a future worth living around the world, we hope to provide an engaging and robust online training product for women in remittance-receiving households, and to deliver this successfully to a pilot cohort of women,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said that the programme would help improve the skills and confidence of women in using digital financial services to invest portions of remittances for sustainable economic development.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Remittance flows and their usage are gaining more traction in international discourses on migration and sustainable development.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Remittances have evolved into a reliable source of funds for accelerating human development, financial inclusion, and productive investment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The product is on GIZ\u2019s e-learning platform, Atingi, and can be accessed through www.atingi.org.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ms Florence Hope-Wudu, Managing Partner, Purple Almond Consulting Service, said the focus on women was because they carried a heavier burden in balancing work and family.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The platform, she stated, would enable women to become financially literate and increase their knowledge on the need to inculcate the habit of savings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>GNA\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><h3 class=\"jp-relatedposts-headline\"><em>Related News<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script type=\"5feef3ab6ac5ed4787ab80cb-text\/javascript\">(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
