{"id":1209793,"date":"2022-09-23T15:03:12","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T15:03:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/23\/george-boateng-opens-up-on-why-he-quit-aston-villa-job-for\/"},"modified":"2022-09-23T15:03:12","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T15:03:12","slug":"george-boateng-opens-up-on-why-he-quit-aston-villa-job-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/23\/george-boateng-opens-up-on-why-he-quit-aston-villa-job-for\/","title":{"rendered":"George Boateng opens up on why he quit Aston Villa job for"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"418\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/George-Boateng-in-yellow-Nigeria-vs-Ghana-696x418.jpg\"   alt=\"George Boateng\" title=\"George Boateng\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">George Boateng<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Assistant coach, George Boateng, has revealed he willingly left his role as Aston Villa U-23 coach to focus on the Black Stars job.<\/p>\n<p>The 46-year-old, who was part of the technical team that masterminded Ghana\u2019s qualification to the 2022 World Cup, left his job with the Premier League last month.<\/p>\n<p>Boateng was appointed together with Otto Addo, Chris Hughton, and Didi Dramani for the World Cup playoffs against Nigeria in March.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Joy Sports in an interview, Boateng said he decided to quit his role with Villa and focus solely on the Black Stars with the World Cup fast approaching.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not that I was forced to leave the [Villa U-23] job but you have to respect the club as well and the discussion was always between what\u2019s the best thing for the club, what\u2019s the best thing for the coach [George Boateng] and what is the best thing overall moving forward for me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was adamant that I want to do the job with Ghana.
