{"id":1209713,"date":"2022-09-23T12:46:44","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T12:46:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/23\/basic-school-teachers-deserve-to-be-paid-responsibility-allowance-angel-cabornu\/"},"modified":"2022-09-23T12:46:44","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T12:46:44","slug":"basic-school-teachers-deserve-to-be-paid-responsibility-allowance-angel-cabornu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/23\/basic-school-teachers-deserve-to-be-paid-responsibility-allowance-angel-cabornu\/","title":{"rendered":"Basic School Teachers Deserve To Be Paid Responsibility Allowance-Angel Cabornu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<article>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/e5148655205744368421ab955b07287b\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The president of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Carbornu has said that teachers at the basic level deserve to be paid responsibility allowance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the NAGRAT National Council meetings held some few days ago in Accra and sighted by Bricy Boateng, the outspoken leader of the association stressed that most basic school teachers perform extra duties as managers of the classroom but sadly, are paid no allowance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/f1165e16a20d46c084a1ef4e6917540b\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In the same vein, Mr. Carbornu noted that housemasters and mistresses offer guidance and counseling aside other services at the senior high level, however, no form of allowance is paid to them as well. \u201cTeachers in the Basic Schools perform responsibilities such as Class Teacher, Housemaster\/ Mistress, guidance and counseling coordinators etc., yet do not receive any allowance.\u201d He said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Mr. Carbornu, his outfit, together with other teacher unions, is going to put all the necessary pressure on her employer \u2013 GES to resolve this issue. He said, \u201cNAGRAT shall engage with sister Unions to exert the necessary pressure on GES to address this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/7c15a1cf7e474990998930a50c3c1e37\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Reaction<\/p>\n<p>These are some of the few challenges in relation to payment of salary arrears, promotion arrears and other allowance like car maintenance allowance and transfer grants that confront a significant number of teachers employed by the Ghana Education Service since time immemorial.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These affected teachers have blamed their union leaders for being the cause of their woes.
