{"id":1208981,"date":"2022-09-22T10:41:28","date_gmt":"2022-09-22T10:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/22\/trust-us-to-bring-the-economy-back-ofori-atta-to-ghanaians\/"},"modified":"2022-09-22T10:41:28","modified_gmt":"2022-09-22T10:41:28","slug":"trust-us-to-bring-the-economy-back-ofori-atta-to-ghanaians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/22\/trust-us-to-bring-the-economy-back-ofori-atta-to-ghanaians\/","title":{"rendered":"Trust Us To Bring The Economy Back \u2013 Ofori-Atta To Ghanaians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<article>\n<p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/46244aaf51ef44e6bcc1781adb32ff6a\" alt=\"Africa: Ken Ofori-Atta \u2013 the man to make Ghana fly | Euromoney\"\/>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"background-color:transparent;\">Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has asked Ghanaians to remain hopeful and support the government to resuscitate the country&#8217;s ailing economy.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"background-color:transparent;\">He says the government is committed and working assiduously to restore the economy to the path of growth and ease the current hardship in the system.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"background-color:transparent;\">He says latest figures by the Ghana Statistical Service has shown a positive outlook of the economy, adding that all will be well soon.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"background-color:transparent;\">&#8220;Indeed, the expected consequence would be the realization of WISER (Wealthy, Inclusive, Sustainable, Empowered and Resilient) society, with our young people more confident about their place in the world&#8221;, he said.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"background-color:transparent;\">Mr Ofori-Atta made these remarks at an event organized for Banks in the country to contribute towards the &#8216;YouStart&#8217; initiative introduced by the government in the 2022 budget.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"background-color:transparent;\">The Finance Minister quoted Ghana&#8217;s first President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, to encourage the youth in the country to remain optimistic about the government&#8217;s effort to better their lives.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"background-color:transparent;\">&#8220;Countrymen, the task ahead is great indeed, and heavy is the responsibility; and yet it is a noble and glorious challenge &#8211; the challenge which calls for the courage to dream, the courage to believe, the courage to dare, the courage to do, the courage to envision, the courage to fight, the courage to work, the courage to achieve &#8211; to achieve the highest excellences and the fullest greatness of man. Dare we ask for more in life?&#8221;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"background-color:transparent;\">Ghana is currently experiencing an economic crunch with rising debt levels, inflation rate coupled depreciation of the country&#8217;s currency which is crumbling against the major foreign exchange.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"background-color:transparent;\">Additionally, the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) has also announced new tariff increments with electricity going up by 27.15 per cent while water will also be increased by 21.55 per cent, covering 2022 to 2023.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"background-color:transparent;\">This has obviously brought untoward hardship to the people of Ghana with many businesses suffering as a result.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"background-color:transparent;\">Government officials have always maintained that the country\u2019s economy is suffering due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine War.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>Content created and supplied by: OPolitics (via  Opera<br \/>\nNews )<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<p class=\"copyright hide\">\n<span class=\"content\">    ,  .   ,     .
