Leader of the Majority group in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has admitted that former President Mahama solved the power crisis that hit Ghana during his tenure before he left office in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n In 2013 Ghana was hit by a power crisis which was nicknamed \u201cDumsor\u201d, meaning switch on and switch off.<\/span><\/p>\n This crisis, which lasted for close to three years, affected several homes and businesses, but the problem was seemingly solved somewhere in 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n The then National Democratic Congress government led by Mr John Dramani Mahama attributed the problem to lack of investments in Ghana\u2019s power sector.<\/span><\/p>\n As a result, the NDC led government in 2015 initiated a number of measures aimed at increasing Ghana’s electricity capacity.<\/span><\/p>\n Mr Mensah Bonsu in an interview with Kumasi-based hello FM said the former president took some useful steps to take the country out of the crisis with the acquisition of thermal plants.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhen we went into the Dumsor-Dumsor, President Mahama was in a hurry to take us out of it so he took some steps to get us out of it. That is the thermal plant that he brought in to generate electricity for us.
