(Getty Images: John Moore)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>A 24-year-old man infected with Ebola has died in central Uganda in a fresh outbreak confirmed by health officials.<\/p>\n<p>The health minister has told journalists that the victim had exhibited symptoms before succumbing to the disease.<\/p>\n<p>He was a resident of Ngabano village in Mubende district, about 147km (91 miles) from the capital, Kampala.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" wp_automatic_readability=\"10.433234421365\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Uganda confirms an outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Mubende District, Uganda.<\/p>\n<p>The confirmed case is a 24 year old male a resident Ngabano village of Madudu Sub County in Mubende District presented with EVD symptoms and later succumbed. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/36i9xyxdxm\">pic.twitter.com\/36i9xyxdxm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ministry of Health- Uganda (@MinofHealthUG) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MinofHealthUG\/status\/1572104820735242241?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 20, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The case of the relatively rare Sudan strain was confirmed by the Uganda Virus Research Institute, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>It says eight people with suspected symptoms are receiving medical care, and that it is sending staff to the affected area.<\/p>\n<p>The East African country last reported an outbreak of the strain in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks to its [Uganda] expertise, action has been taken to quickly to detect the virus and we can bank on this knowledge to halt the spread of infections,\u201d said Dr Matshidiso Moeti \u2013 WHO regional director for Africa.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"8RQ-GCBdDgk\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Badwam Media Review on Adom TV (20-9-22)\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8RQ-GCBdDgk?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PHOTO: A Red Cross burial team wore protective clothing to visit houses where people were infected with Ebola.
