Zendaya\u00a0made history \u2014 once again \u2014 by winning the Emmy award for lead actress in a drama series for her performance in \u201cEuphoria.\u201d<\/p>\n
She became the youngest lead actress in a drama winner with her first win for \u201cEuphoria\u201d in 2020. Now, at 26 years old, Zendaya is the youngest actress to win two\u00a0Emmys\u00a0and the first Black woman to win the Emmy for lead actress in a drama series twice.<\/p>\n
During her speech, Zendaya thanked the cast and crew of \u201cEuphoria\u201d as well as those who have shared with her their stories of addiction.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy greatest wish for \u2018Euphoria\u2019 was that it could help heal people, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who shared their story with me,\u201d she said. \u201cI want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like you are a Rue, I\u2019m so grateful for your stories and I carry them with me and carry them with her. Thank you so much.\u201d<\/p>\n
Zendaya beat a tough slate of competitors which included Jodie Comer (\u201cKilling Eve\u201d), Laura Linney (\u201cOzark\u201d), Melanie Lynskey (\u201cYellowjackets\u201d), Sandra Oh (\u201cKilling Eve\u201d) and Reese Witherspoon (\u201cThe Morning Show\u201d).<\/p>\n
She won for her turn as Rue in this year\u2019s popular second season of \u201cEuphoria.\u201d The series scored a Season 3 renewal in February after the successful installment. The Season 2 premiere episode on Jan. 9 raked in 14 million total viewers across HBO and HBO Max at the time.<\/p>\n
Zendaya\u2019s appearance at this year\u2019s awards show also marks a record as the youngest star to receive an Emmy nomination for producing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
