An Aide to former President Mahama, Felix Ofosu Kwakye says President Akufo-Addo lacks the moral authority to lecture anyone in the country on the rule of law.<\/span><\/p>\n Mr Ofosu Kwakye says Akufo-Addo has been a lawless leader who will go down in history as the only President who has undermined the independence of all state institutions and made them partisan.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHe has unashamedly packed our courts with NPP partisans to further his political and governance interests and he expects that we will take the injustice and imbalance that emanates from this with stoic resignation.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHe has gleefully superintended the terrorism and banditry of his thugs who have routinely and violently attacked state institutions and innocent political opponents.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThey walk free on our streets and he has integrated some of them into regular security agencies\u201d, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n Mr Ofosu Kwakye made these comments in response to President Akufo-Addo\u2019s criticism of former President Mahama\u2019s recent attack on the Judiciary.<\/span><\/p>\n The President at the Bar Conference held in Ho under the auspices of the Ghana Bar Association, says the unwarranted attacks on the judiciary by elements of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are for “selfish parochial partisan reasons”.<\/span><\/p>\n He went on to urge genuine democrats to devote their energies towards strengthening the democratic institutions instead of spending profitless time in undermining them.<\/span><\/p>\n “These are the plaintiffs who go to court, indeed the highest Court of the land, provide the skimpiest of evidence to back their claims and yet insist that claims be upheld despite the elementary violation of the ancient common law rules for the discharge of the burden of proof that such a result would entail. It is also no wonder that their claims were unanimously dismissed 7-0 by the apex court.<\/span><\/p>\n “The result of this case is indeed in sharp contrast to the result of a similar one in 2013 when the unsuccessful plaintiffs managed to persuade four out of a nine-member court to fight for them and yet the earlier plaintiffs chose not to wage a political war against the courts”, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n Content created and supplied by: OPolitics (via Opera \n , . , .
