{"id":1202813,"date":"2022-09-12T14:09:16","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T14:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/12\/google-closes-5-4b-mandiant-acquisition\/"},"modified":"2022-09-12T14:09:16","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T14:09:16","slug":"google-closes-5-4b-mandiant-acquisition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/12\/google-closes-5-4b-mandiant-acquisition\/","title":{"rendered":"Google closes $5.4B Mandiant acquisition \u2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p id=\"speakable-summary\">Google has announced that its proposed $5.4 billion bid to buy cybersecurity firm Mandiant is now complete.<\/p>\n<p>The internet giant first revealed plans to acquire publicly-traded Mandiant back in March, less than a year after Mandiant was spun out of its previous owner FireEye as part of a $1.2 billion deal with private equity firm Symphony Technology Group.<\/p>\n<p>Moving forward, Mandiant will operate under the auspices of Google Cloud, though the Mandiant brand will live on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will retain the Mandiant brand and continue Mandiant\u2019s mission to make every organization secure from cyber threats and confident in their readiness,\u201d Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian wrote in a blog post.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2394910\" style=\"width: 774px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2394910\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-2394910\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/gp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Intel-Dashboard-full.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"764\" height=\"411\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2394910\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mandiant dashboard\u00a0<strong><em>Image Credit: Mandiant<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>As one of the so-called \u201cbig three\u201d public cloud providers alongside Amazon and Microsoft, Google\u2019s big promise to would-be customers is that it will keep all their data and infrastructure secure. This means continually introducing new products to address the ever-changing threat landscape, while it often means acquiring long-established incumbents with the expertise to bolster its security proposition.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s effectively what Google\u2019s getting with Mandiant, giving it a major boost in terms of security data gathering capabilities, not to mention hundreds of security consultants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCombining Google Cloud\u2019s existing security portfolio with Mandiant\u2019s leading cyber threat intelligence will allow us to deliver a security operations suite to help enterprises globally stay protected at every stage of the security lifecycle,\u201d Kurian said. \u201cWith the scale of Google\u2019s data processing, novel analytics approaches with AI and machine learning, and a focus on eliminating entire classes of threats, Google Cloud and Mandiant will help organizations reinvent security to meet the requirements of our rapidly changing world.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Google has announced that its proposed $5.4 billion bid to buy cybersecurity firm Mandiant is now complete.
