(Photo by Chris Jackson\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He continued as follows:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI, however, have lost a grandmother. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd while I will grieve her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have had the benefit of the queen\u2019s wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1012\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/gp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/prince-william-at-wimbledon-1012x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Prince William at Wimbledon\" class=\"wp-image-407188\"\/><\/noscript><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1012\" height=\"1024\" alt=\"Prince William at Wimbledon\" class=\"wp-image-407188 lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/prince-william-at-wimbledon.jpg\" data-trellis-processed=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>On Friday, King Charles III, took over the throne from his mother.<\/p>\n<p>In his first speech as the monarch, he decreed that Prince William would take on the role that Charles himself previously held.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs my Heir, William now assumes the Scottish titles which have meant so much to me,\u201d the new king said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe succeeds me as Duke of Cornwall and takes on the responsibilities for the Duchy of Cornwall, which I have undertaken for more than five decades.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, I am proud to create him Prince of Wales, Tywysog Cymru, the country whose title I have been so greatly privileged to bear during so much of my life and duty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the center ground where vital help can be given.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/gp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/GettyImages-1406038831-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-457522\"\/><\/noscript><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-457522 lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/GettyImages-1406038831-scaled.jpg\" data-trellis-processed=\"1\"\/><figcaption>Queen Elizabeth II has passed away at the age of 96. (Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>William went on this weekend, stating of Queen Elizabeth:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was by my side at my happiest moments and she was by my side during the saddest days of my life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grannie will truly feel real.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After thanking his grandmother for her years of kindness and service to the country, William noted that he plans to \u201chonor her memory by supporting\u201d his father, King Charles III, as he begins his reign.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"945\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/gp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1662733501_299_GettyImages-1241630457-1024x945.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-457572\"\/><\/noscript><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"945\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-457572 lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/GettyImages-1241630457.jpg\" data-trellis-processed=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>Also on Saturday, meanwhile, Buckingham Palace announced that the late monarch will be honored with a state funeral on Monday, September 19 at Westminster Abbey in Central London. <\/p>\n<p>It will be the first time a monarch\u2019s funeral has been held at Westminster Abbey since the 18th century.<\/p>\n<p>All of the United Kingdom will be given the day off to honor the Queen\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>The funeral will be followed by a committal at St. George\u2019s Chapel in Windsor\u2014 where the Queen\u2019s parents, sister Princess Margaret and beloved husband Prince Philip are laid to rest.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prince William is in mourning.
