Ricky Martin is reportedly suing his nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, for $20 million (about R346m) over the 21-year-old\u2019s sexual abuse allegations.<\/p>\n
Documents, obtained by the New York Post and revealed by the publication on Wednesday, say Martin lodged the action against Yadiel Sanchez, claiming his nephew was attempting to \u201cassassinate\u201d the performer\u2019s reputation.<\/p>\n
TMZ, which was the first to report the lawsuit, noted the \u201cLivin\u2019 la Vida Loca\u201d singer, 50, filed the suit in San Juan, Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n
A month after Yadiel Sanchez withdrew his restraining order against the pop star, Martin claimed his nephew began sending him messages through Instagram, threatening to \u201cassassinate his reputation and integrity\u201d if he didn\u2019t give him cash.<\/p>\n
Watch video:<\/strong><\/p>\n Martin also claims in his suit his nephew, whom he described as a \u201cmaladjusted individual\u201d, boasted about being his nephew and would send him messages up to 10 times a day for four-months.<\/p>\n The singer alleges he posted his cellphone number on the web and made an Instagram account for one of his children, leaving the father-of-four shaken.<\/p>\n Martin also believes he has missed out on lucrative business opportunities, the suit states, and is looking for $20m in damages.<\/p>\n The singer, who has kids Valentino and Matteo, both 14, as well as Lucia and Renn, both three, with husband Jwan Yosef, alleges he and his family feel \u201cunsafe\u201d in Puerto Rico due to his nephew\u2019s alleged behaviour.<\/p>\n Page Six said a representative for Martin did not immediately return its request for comment on the filing.<\/p>\n Martin explained in a video, posted in July, why he had not addressed the allegations of incestuous relations when they first came out, despite his team vehemently denying the \u201cfalse and fabricated\u201d claims at the time.<\/p>\n The singer said: \u201cFor two weeks, I was not allowed to defend myself because I was following procedure, where the law\u2026 obligated me not to talk until I was in front of the judge.<\/p>\n \u201cThank God, these claims were proven to be false, but I\u2019m going to tell you the truth, it has been so painful and devastating for me, for my family for my friends,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t wish this upon anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n Yadiel Sanchez, the son of Ricky\u2019s half-sister Vanessa Martin, previously alleged he and his uncle were in a seven-month relationship, and claimed Martin stalked him at his house after they broke up two months ago.<\/p>\n
