{"id":1200514,"date":"2022-09-08T07:03:41","date_gmt":"2022-09-08T07:03:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/08\/enhle-mbali-mlotshwa-offers-bursaries-to-gbv-survivors\/"},"modified":"2022-09-08T07:03:41","modified_gmt":"2022-09-08T07:03:41","slug":"enhle-mbali-mlotshwa-offers-bursaries-to-gbv-survivors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/08\/enhle-mbali-mlotshwa-offers-bursaries-to-gbv-survivors\/","title":{"rendered":"Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa offers bursaries to GBV survivors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/image-prod.iol.co.za\/16x9\/800?source=https:\/\/xlibris.public.prod.oc.inl.infomaker.io:8443\/opencontent\/objects\/d3ea314e-478d-56c7-83d1-cd3333b6ce07&amp;operation=CROP&amp;offset=0x20&amp;resize=610x343\" class=\"type:primaryImage\"\/><\/p>\n<p>If you are a gender-based violence survivor or victim, Enhle Care Foundation would like to offer you an opportunity to reclaim your power through one of the most powerful tools, education.<\/p>\n<p>Taking to her social media pages on Wednesday, September 7 media personality and businesswoman Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa announced that she, through her Enhle Care Foundation, is offering bursaries to women who have been victims of gender-based-violence (GBV).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSixty-five percent of abused women go back to their abuser due to lack of financial support or independence\u2026 the abusers know this,\u201d shared Mlotshwa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe at @enhlecares_foundation_ are working towards bridging that gap, slowly but surely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also shared a short video clip, explaining how these bursaries can be obtained.<\/p>\n<p>She started by paying tribute to the over 20 000 women who marched against the apartheid pass laws that were imposed on black women over six decades ago.<\/p>\n<p>She went on to explain that though the 1956 heroines won the fight against the apartheid regime, the modern woman is fighting a new battle, GBV.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re a woman who\u2019s from an abused background and want to do well for yourself, this is for you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re giving away two bursaries to two women, fully paid for. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll you have to do is tell us your story and why you deserve this bursary.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/CiMuKcVtp2B\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\"background:#FFF;border:0;border-radius:3px;margin: 1px;max-width:540px;min-width:326px;padding:0;width:99.375%;width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px);width:calc(100% - 2px)\">\n<div style=\"padding:16px\">\n<div style=\"padding-top: 8px\">\n<p>View this post on Instagram<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"color:#c9c8cd;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;line-height:17px;margin-bottom:0;margin-top:8px;overflow:hidden;padding:8px 0 7px;text-align:center\">A post shared by Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa (@enhlembali_)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In his recent crime statistics speech, Minister of Police Bheki Cele revealed that between April and June this year, 855 women and 243 children were killed in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, over 11 thousand assaults, with female victims, were opened by the SAPS, 1 670 such cases involved children, 9 516 rape cases were opened with SAPS, between April and June 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Weighing in on the issue of GBV during her recent interview with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka on Kaya959, the former \u201cIsibaya\u201d actress said: \u201cThe reason why the rapes are happening the way they are happening in South Africa is because there\u2019s low self-worth within our men, a lot of the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not making excuses\u2026 this could be part of the problem. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel that our men have pain they cannot speak of or articulate. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho are the first people to take it out on?
