The Hollywood actress insists there shouldn\u2019t be any rules when it comes to makeup and style.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cBeauty is subjective, I don\u2019t think there should be any rules! The best looks happen when you take risks.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked what the best beauty advice she\u2019s received is, she replied: \u201cMy hairstylist Adir has taught me never to be afraid to take risks!\u201d<\/p>\n
The 47-year-old star\u2019s beauty icon is her mom because she\u2019s \u201cconfident\u201d in her \u201cown skin\u201d.<\/p>\n
Charlize told ELLE UK: \u201cMy mum is my beauty icon. She\u2019s confident and comfortable in her own skin. She\u2019s outspoken but also caring. She takes fantastic care of herself so she feels good!\u201d<\/p>\n
When it comes to beauty and perfume, the busy star \u2013 who is mom to adopted daughters Jackson, 10, and August, seven, opts for minimalism.<\/p>\n
The Dior J\u2019adore ambassador said: \u201cMy approach to beauty and fragrance is that simple is best. I\u2019m a mother of two so I can\u2019t always spend a lot of time in front of the mirror every morning \u2013 I have to get them to school! And fragrance is the same way, with the J\u2019adore scent, it combines classic fresh floral scents with the lightness of water as its base which creates something classic and nuanced without overdoing it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Oscar-winning star recently explained that as she gets older she does not worry about wearing a \u201ctonne of powder\u201d on her face and being able to \u201clook natural\u201d on film has changed her approach to her red carpet look.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cI think the older I\u2019ve become the more I\u2019m about not matte-ing your face down and wearing a tonne of powder. I think having actors look natural is something that\u2019s so celebrated in film that I\u2019ve kind of brought that into my [approach to the] red carpet and even editorials that I shoot \u2013 not wanting to look like [I have] a matte face. I think a lot of us are so hypersensitive about not wanting to look like sweaty pigs! [But] I don\u2019t think it\u2019s very flattering on women, especially as we get older. So you don\u2019t have to use a powder.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
