\u2018Someone You Loved\u2019 hitmaker Lewis Capaldi has been diagnosed with Tourette\u2019s syndrome.<\/p>\n
The 25-year-old singer has decided to go public with his diagnosis because he doesn\u2019t want fans to think he\u2019s been using drugs.<\/p>\n
He explained: \u201cI have been diagnosed with Tourette\u2019s. I wanted to speak about it because I didn\u2019t want people to think I was taking cocaine or something.\u201d<\/p>\n
Capaldi is learning to live with the symptoms of the condition, and the chart-topping star has even had botox injections to help to control his tics.<\/p>\n
He told The Sun newspaper\u2019s Bizarre column: \u201cMy shoulder twitches when I am excited, happy, nervous or stressed. It is something I am living with. It is not as bad as it looks.\u201d<\/p>\n
Capaldi also addressed the issue during an Instagram Live session with his fans.<\/p>\n
The award-winning star shared: \u201cIt\u2019s a new thing. I haven\u2019t really learnt much about it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI got botox in my shoulder to stop it moving but I\u2019m learning new ways to cope all the time. Some days it\u2019s more painful than others, sometimes it\u2019s quite uncomfortable but I guess that\u2019s it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Capaldi has wondered about his health over the last few years, and admits that the diagnosis now \u201cmakes so much sense\u201d.<\/p>\n
The singer \u2013 who released his debut album, \u201cDivinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent\u201d, in 2019 said: \u201cWhen they told me, \u2018We think you\u2019ve got Tourette\u2019s\u2019, I was like, \u2018Do you know what, that makes so much sense\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I look back at my interviews from 2018 I can see that I\u2019m doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Prior to the diagnosis, Capaldi feared that he had a \u201cdegenerative disease\u201d.<\/p>\n
He shared: \u201cIt comes and goes. Sometimes I can go months without doing it. I thought I had some horrible degenerative disease so I\u2019ll take Tourette\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n
