Kwesi Pratt, managing editor of the Insight newspaper is seen by many as one of the biggest critics of the ruling New Patriotic Party. He has on a number of times hit hard at President Akufo-Addo for the handling of the economy. One of Kwesi\u2019s major grievances against the government bothers on Kwame Nkrumah. According to Kwesi Pratt, this government is trying to do everything possible to erode the popularity of Kwame Nkrumah.<\/p>\n

On The Palaver on Pan African TV today, Wednesday, September 7, 2022, Kwesi questioned why there is the celebration of Founders\u2019 day when it is clear that Kwame Nkrumah is the founder of Ghana. Kwesi explained that as part of marking the real founder of Ghana, the Socialist Movement of Ghana will be organizing a placard parade on September 20. Protesters will line up from the Black Star Square to the Bank of Ghana. They will be holding placards conveying reasons why Nkrumah is the real founder of Ghana. This will be followed the following day with a symposium to honor Kwame Nkrumah.<\/p>\n
Kwesi Pratt, the General Secretary of the Socialist Movement in Ghana said they will send a strong signal to the government that Kwame Nkrumah is the real founder of Ghana and not J.B Danquah or Busia.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThey have decided to devalue Nkrumah\u2019s popularity, but that cannot be done. They claim Nkrumah was a nobody and that they were the ones to invite Nkrumah to Ghana. Why didn\u2019t they make Danquah the secretary of the UGCC? They needed a dynamic person. The 1966 coup was not staged by Kotoka alone and yet a whole airport was named after him? Why? Cant Nkrumah also have a celebration as founder of Ghana?\u201d Kwesi Pratt questioned.<\/p>\n

According to Kwesi Pratt before Nkrumah came the UGCC had only 3 branches but Nkrumah came to change that by adding numerous braches. Kwesi Pratt boldly insisted that the UGCC didn\u2019t have a branch in Kyebi or Kumasi until Nkrumah came. He called on those behind the attacks to devalue Nkrumah to stop. Kwesi noted that all that those people are doing is rather making Nkrumah popular. The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day will celebrated on September 21.<\/p>\n
