Maude Apatow has hit back at being branded a \u201cnepotism baby\u201d and admitted she is \u201cin a lucky position\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Euphoria<\/em> actress and daughter of Hollywood power players Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann admitted the abuse initially got her down until she realised she would just have to keep working to prove herself in the industry.<\/p>\n
Maude, 24, told the new issue of Porter <\/em> magazine: \u201cAt first, I was sad\u2026 I try not to let it get to me because I obviously understand that I\u2019m in such a lucky position.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of people (in a similar position) have proven themselves over the years, so I\u2019ve got to keep going and make good work. It\u2019s so early in my career.<\/p>\n
\u201cI try not to think about that so much, but it definitely drives me. I feel like I really need to prove myself, so I work extra hard.\u201d<\/p>\n
She had been called a \u201cnepotism baby\u201d by online trolls, and says in the new interview that she used her worries over being shy to improve her acting.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d channel all my anxiety into theatre. Everything had to be just perfect. That\u2019s not always a good thing; I probably burnt a lot of bridges.\u201d<\/p>\n
She also told Porter<\/em> about struggling with anxiety since she was a teenager: \u201cI never want to let fear get in the way.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maude, who is the older sister of Love<\/em> actress Iris Apatow, 19, said she does turn to her filmmaker dad for guidance with her writing, after he directed her in her first film, his 2007 comedy Knocked Up,<\/em> which also starred her mother.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cMy dad always told me acting is tough because you never know what\u2019s going to come next. He always encouraged me to write.<\/p>\n
\u201cDad always reads what I write, but I have to be at a certain point. I\u2019ll wait until I\u2019m almost done and then get notes from him. I get annoyed because he\u2019ll come up with a better idea, but he\u2019s super-helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said about her writing: \u201cI\u2019m always hard on myself. Sometimes I get in my head and think, \u2018Why would anyone want to hear what I have to say?\u2019 Then I tell myself, \u2018It doesn\u2019t matter, it\u2019s just entertainment\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cI try to clear my head of any of those thoughts. You can\u2019t constantly judge yourself: it\u2019s such a creativity killer.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said she is trying to \u201ctake it easier on myself\u201d after she contracted a \u201creally bad infection\u201d in 2020 that saw her hospitalised.<\/p>\n
Maude, who is rumoured to be dating actor Patrick Gibson, 27, said: \u201cI wish I could say I meditate. I don\u2019t, but I\u2019m trying not to run myself into the ground so much. I\u2019m trying to judge myself less.\u201d<\/p>\n
