The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Revenue Mobilization Taskforce has recovered almost GH3 million from electricity defaulters in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.<\/p>\n
The collection is part of a two-week revenue mobilization effort to reclaim $3.8 million owed by clients.<\/p>\n
Benjamin Quarcoo, the ECG’s Western Region Communications Officer, rated the first day of the exercise as a success.<\/p>\n
“It was a success. As we’ve seen, some consumers were able to pay GH1 million, while others paid GH700,000 with the anticipation that by the end of the exercise, a lot more would come in to pay what they owed the ECG.<\/p>\n
He went on to say that the task force made certain that consumers who couldn’t pay off all of their obligations covered at least half of what they owed ECG.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, consumers were given a payment plan to follow to pay off all of their obligations and keep their businesses running.<\/p>\n
The crew disconnected those who did not make a partial payment or agree to a payment schedule.<\/p>\n
While warning prospective ECG customers not to fall prey to bad nuts inside the , John Quayson-Dadzie, Western Regional Acting Manager of the Electricity Company, said that prospective customers should avoid payment for promised temporary meters or seek receipt for all payments.<\/p>\n
As part of the operation, the ECG team obtained over a million cedis from Takoradi Technical University and an undisclosed quantity from Anaji Shopping.<\/p>\n
