A member of the communications team for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Kwame Fugah says the latest Auditor-General\u2019s report has exposed how corrupt President Akuffo-Addo\u2019s Government has been.<\/span><\/p>\n The NDC Communicator in the Ashanti says it appears there is now a \u2018steal make I steal some\u2019 under the Nana Addo administration, adding that the President has failed woefully in protecting the public purse as promised.<\/span><\/p>\n Speaking on Kumasi based Ultimate FM, Mr Fugah says \u2018\u2018obviously, we can clearly say that this government is not ready to regularize whatever we are terming as financial irregularities\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe can\u2019t allow ourselves to be recording these high figures of irregularities, under the guise of financial irregularities.\u2019\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018\u2018What I am expecting the auditor general to do is to give the details of these so-called financial irregularities, could it be related to lady Bianca\u2019s cases, could it be related to PDS scandals where fraudulent insurance guarantees were used to acquire our state assets, so if you don\u2019t give us the breakdown of these financial irregularities then how are we able to tackle it\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018\u2019Today it is like chop make I chop some\u2019, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n The Auditor-General has uncovered financial irregularities amounting to about GH\u00a217.5 billion in the 2021 audit report of public boards and corporations and other statutory institutions, representing a 36 percent jump from the 2020 figure of GH\u00a212.85 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n The irregularities, according to the report, were mainly in the form of cash, tax, payroll, debts and loans, stores and procurement, contract, rent and credit power sales.<\/span><\/p>\n Since the release of the report, many Ghanaians have called on the Auditor-General Mr Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu to surcharge all the people and heads of institutions cited in the report,<\/span><\/p>\n Last Monday, August 5, 2022, a coalition of civil society organizations in Ghana marched to the office of the Auditor-General to demand why people cited in his report have not yet been punished.<\/span><\/p>\n However, sharing his view on this issue, the NDC Communicator, says the current Auditor-General has not been able to surcharge anyone because he is doing the bidding of President Akuffo-Addo.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cNana Addo has been exposed that he is the most corrupt, he is the serpent mother corruption, he is the brain and the scheme behind every corrupt activity in this nation\u2019\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018\u2018The Auditor General is playing the card of the president because the president gave him the chance to be there , because the president sacked somebody who was doing the job for him to be there, so he has to dance to the tune of the corrupt president and his vice is as simple as that.
