President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo left Ghana on Saturday, September 3rd, at the invitation of Ban Ki-Moon, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chair of the Board of the Global Centre of Adaption (GCA), to attend the African Adaptation Summit on Monday, September 5th, 2022, at the GCA Headquarters in Rotterdam, Netherlands.<\/p>\n

The Summit is anticipated to generate additional funding and support for the region’s flagship Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP). The initiative is bringing the Africa Adaptation Initiative’s goal to life by mobilizing $25 billion in investments for climate adaptation in food security, resilient infrastructure, adaptation jobs, and climate financing by 2025.<\/p>\n

At the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, His Excellency Mark Tutte, President Akufo-Addo will pay a working visit to the Netherlands from September 6th to 7th, where he will hold bilateral discussions with his Dutch counterpart, among other things, to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n

The President will also attend a high-level event commemorating the 3rd International Day to Protect Education from Attack. The conference will take place in Paris, France.<\/p>\n

The President was accompanied by Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Hon. Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, MP for Sefwi Wiawso; and officials from the Presidency and Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo will return to Ghana on Saturday, September 10, 2022. In his absence, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will act in his place under Article 60(8) of the Constitution.<\/p>\n
