She said the investor made comments that suggest so during their meetings. <\/p>\n<p>Leila Djansi said that she spoke to her lawyer who asked her if she was willing to compromise and make the change \u2013 switching to a white lead \u2013 to get the needed funds.<\/p>\n<p>The filmmaker said \u201cI thought about it and I spoke to a couple of other friends, but it didn\u2019t feel right. So, I didn\u2019t get the funding for the film because my lead actor was black. My lead is going to stay black because the story is about a black woman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"300\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/1336535341&#038;color=%23ff5500&#038;auto_play=false&#038;hide_related=false&#038;show_comments=true&#038;show_user=true&#038;show_reposts=false&#038;show_teaser=true&#038;visual=true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>She stated that there were times when during meetings the investors would attempt to make changes to her film, where the white husband would rather be the focus.<\/p>\n<p>However, Miss Djansi said that she was not willing to let her lead character take a back seat for her white husband to be the main attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t get the film financed but when it was time for me to get it financed it will get financed though.
