{"id":1197370,"date":"2022-09-02T16:27:08","date_gmt":"2022-09-02T16:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/02\/full-list-of-unaccredited-academic-programmes-offered-by-ug-and-knust\/"},"modified":"2022-09-02T16:27:08","modified_gmt":"2022-09-02T16:27:08","slug":"full-list-of-unaccredited-academic-programmes-offered-by-ug-and-knust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/02\/full-list-of-unaccredited-academic-programmes-offered-by-ug-and-knust\/","title":{"rendered":"Full list of unaccredited academic programmes offered by UG and KNUST"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\" style=\"line-height: 2; letter-spacing: -0.5px;font-size: 18px;\">\n<p>                        <!--p class=\"ky_saved_articles_link\"><span class=\"ky_saved_articles_hide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\" class=\"ky_saved_articles_img\" alt=\"Full list of unaccredited academic programmes offered by UG and KNUST\" title=\"Full list of unaccredited academic programmes offered by UG and KNUST\"><\/span> Bookmark<\/p-->\n<p>The Ghana Tertiary Commission (GTEC) has released the list of both accredited and unaccredited programmes run by two of the top public universities in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, the Audit Service published its latest report which revealed that over 600 programmes run by the two leading universities are without accreditation.<\/p>\n<p>Out of 360 programmes run by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), only 61 are accredited. The University of Ghana has 374 of its programmes unaccredited.<\/p>\n<p>This casts doubt on the worthiness of the certificates they issue to persons who participate in such programmes.<\/p>\n<p>The full list of these programmes have been published on the website of GTEC. Checks by myjoyonline with the Director-General, Dr. Mohammed Salifu confirmed that the published list is up to date. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s updated after every board meeting,\u201d he wrote in response to our question.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"424\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-21-1024x424.png\" alt=\"Full list of unaccredited academic programmes offered by UG and KNUST\" class=\"wp-image-10032164139\"   title=\"Full list of unaccredited academic programmes offered by UG and KNUST\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>For KNUST, accreditation for programmes  B.A. Political Science, B.A. Sociology, B.Sc. Computer Engineering, B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc. Mathematics, MPhil Political Science, MSc Mathematics PhD English, PhD Sociology have expired.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/183bOiGi2stlUF1VVCGHSi1e_6lWvv1G5\/preview\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" allow=\"autoplay\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Whereas, PhD Law, PhD Geomatic Engineering, Ph.D. Chemical Engineering, MSc. Audiology, BSc. Materials Engineering, BSc. Ceramics Technology are accredited.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the unaccredited programmes at the University of Ghana include; B.A. Sociology, Diploma in Environmental Health, M.A. Communication Studies, M.A. HIV and AIDS Management, Ph.D. Accounting.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"438\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-20-1024x438.png\" alt=\"Full list of unaccredited academic programmes offered by UG and KNUST\" class=\"wp-image-10032164138\"   title=\"Full list of unaccredited academic programmes offered by UG and KNUST\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>While Ph.D. Statistics, PhD French,  Master of Public Health, B.A. Chinese, Bachelor of Laws(LLB) are accredited.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1XsB3S_WmtsC8-AJE7NL0uVHV6ic833RC\/preview\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" allow=\"autoplay\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, authorities of the two universities have blamed administrative lapses on the opart of GTEC for the unaccredited status of some of the programmes they offer.<\/p>\n<p>This has been challenged by Dr. Salifu who has asked them to stop the blame game and do the needful.<\/p>\n<p>In a related development, President Akufo-Addo has charged GTEC to ensure the maintenance of the highest standard of integrity and quality in the schools.<\/p>\n<p>According to the President, this will ensure that the country\u2019s human resources meet the international criteria of tertiary education.<\/p>\n<p>                <!-- Post Tags --><\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghana Tertiary Commission (GTEC) has released the list of both accredited and unaccredited programmes run by two of the top public universities in the country.
