{"id":1196952,"date":"2022-09-02T06:56:39","date_gmt":"2022-09-02T06:56:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/02\/fulham-sign-ex-chelsea-winger-willian\/"},"modified":"2022-09-02T06:56:39","modified_gmt":"2022-09-02T06:56:39","slug":"fulham-sign-ex-chelsea-winger-willian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/09\/02\/fulham-sign-ex-chelsea-winger-willian\/","title":{"rendered":"Fulham sign ex-Chelsea winger Willian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"385\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/willian-220901-signs-bg-696x385.jpg\"   alt=\"Willian \u00a9 Fulham \/ Twitter\" title=\"Willian \u00a9 Fulham \/ Twitter\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Willian \u00a9 Fulham \/ Twitter<br \/>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Fulham have completed the signings of Willian on a free transfer, Carlos Vinicius on a permanent deal, plus Dan James and Layvin Kurzawa on season-long loans.<\/p>\n<p>The arrivals take the number of acquisitions made by the Premier League club this summer to 11.<\/p>\n<p>Their final signing of the window was Wales international James from Leeds.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>The 24-year-old said: \u201cI\u2019ve spoken to the gaffer and it feels like a great fit, I can\u2019t wait to get started.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>James joined Leeds in a \u00a325m transfer from Manchester United in the summer of 2021, but scored only four goals last season as the club struggled against relegation.<\/p>\n<p>Ex-Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Willian, 34, had been playing with Corinthians.<\/p>\n<p>However, he had his contract cancelled with the Brazilian club after claiming he\u00a0received death threats.<\/p>\n<p>Willian won five trophies, including two Premier League titles, during his seven-year spell at Chelsea before joining Arsenal on a three-year deal in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>His deal with the Gunners was terminated after a year\u00a0because he did not make an impact\u00a0and he moved back to Corinthians \u2013 his first club \u2013 in his homeland.<\/p>\n<p>Willian told\u00a0Fulham\u2019s website: \u201cI\u2019m happy to be here, I\u2019m happy to be back in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFulham is a special club, a club that wants to improve, that wants to fight for something bigger, so I\u2019m here to help, and I can\u2019t wait to get started.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fulham have also signed striker Vinicius, formerly on loan at Tottenham, on a three-year deal from Benfica for an undisclosed fee.<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old said: \u201cI\u2019m really happy to be here. I think it\u2019s a big club with good people, so I\u2019m really, really happy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m happy to be back in the Premier League again. I\u2019m more experienced now and I think I can help the club.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Left-back Kurzawa, 29, has made 153 appearances for French champions Paris St-Germain since arriving from Monaco in 2015 but is yet to feature in Ligue 1 this term.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel very, very happy to be here.
