I don\u2019t have the exact figures here but I think GH\u00a2520 million plus went out as funding to Ghanaian SMEs,\u201d she said in an interview on <strong>JoyNews\u2019 Business Edition of PM Express <\/strong>on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The topic for discussion was \u201cSME support amid economic challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She noted that although the moratorium kicked off recently, the beneficiary SMEs have \u201cstarted paying in various capacities.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p><div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"vbRPouHM1rY\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"We have disbursed over 500m to SMEs - Kosi Yankey\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vbRPouHM1rY?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Mrs. Yankey-Ayeh further explained that GH\u00a2200 million of the amount was given as grants to SMEs.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the grant through Mobile Money (Adom initiative) \u201cis not something that we will be going out to collect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat grant component of the funding went through the mobile money system, because we knew that that was the best and most efficient way to get to the beneficiaries, and those who got the funds through Adom are those who got up to GH\u00a22000,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, the Development Bank Ghana (DBG) also offered to give long-term financing to Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) operating in the country, with guaranteed operational independence, a clear vision, and a strong balance sheet totaling 750 million dollars.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-myjoyonline-com wp-block-embed-myjoyonline-com\"\/>\n<p>Meanwhile, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in the Ashanti Region have been urged to adopt GrEEn\u00a0concepts in growing their businesses.<\/p>\n<p>With depleting and limited natural resources, businesses harnessing renewable and eco-friendly resources would facilitate their\u00a0restoration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As part of efforts to nurture and grow SMEs and corporate businesses in Ghana, the CalBank PLC and Focus 1 media have been meeting with some corporate businesses in the Ashanti region.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The stakeholder meeting was to educate and promote the adoption of an eco-conscious business environment using energy efficient and renewable resources.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>                <!-- Post Tags --><\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, Mrs. Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, has disclosed that the agency has disbursed over GH\u00a2500million to Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
